idle hands

KJV

Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger.

KJV

And withal they learn [to be] idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.

KJV

The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.

KJV

She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.

KJV

An ungodly man diggeth up evil: and in his lips [there is] as a burning fire.

KJV

¶ By much slothfulness the building decayeth; and through idleness of the hands the house droppeth through.

KJV

10For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat. 11For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies. 12Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.

KJV

6¶ Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: 7Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, 8Provideth her meat in the summer, [and] gathereth her food in the harvest. 9How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep? 10[Yet] a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: 11So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.

KJV

4He becometh poor that dealeth [with] a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich. 5He that gathereth in summer [is] a wise son: [but] he that sleepeth in harvest [is] a son that causeth shame.

KJV

He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster.

KJV

30I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding; 31And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, [and] nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down. 32Then I saw, [and] considered [it] well: I looked upon [it, and] received instruction. 33[Yet] a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: 34So shall thy poverty come [as] one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man.

KJV

But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.

KJV

Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with [his] hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.

KJV

6Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us. 7For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you; 8Neither did we eat any man’s bread for nought; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you: 9Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us.

KJV

9How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep? 10[Yet] a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: 11So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.

KJV

In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips [tendeth] only to penury.

KJV

The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; [therefore] shall he beg in harvest, and [have] nothing.
